As part of National Pro Bono Week, A4ID’s ROLE UK programme has partnered with Allen & Overy for an evening of celebration that will showcase partnerships and pro bono work undertaken between the UK legal and judicial sector and their counterparts in developing countries.
- Elizabeth Staves – Allen & Overy
- Ruth Sharon, Dan Hope and Ranjit Uppal – Strengthening Families for Abandoned Children (SFAC)
- Grace Karrass – Judicial Office of England and Wales
- Adrienne Joy – Advocates for International Development
- Mariam Faruqi – iProbono
Each of the speakers will deliver a fast-paced and visual PechaKucha © -style presentation about the successes and lessons learned from their partnerships with legal and judicial actors in developing countries. Between the presentations the audience will be asked to discuss specific questions about international legal pro bono and encouraged to discuss their ideas with stakeholders from different sectors.
This dynamic evening is intended to connect legal and development professionals to facilitate knowledge sharing about the lessons learned from their different experiences of international pro bono assistance. The event ties in with the ROLE UK programme’s long-term aim to help strengthen the rule of law around the world by improving the responsiveness and impact of international pro bono.
